A little plaid + Converses = perfect weekend outfit.
Lately, I’ve been all about comfort. Maybe it’s due to the drawn out relationship winter and I are having? Either way I’ve been obsessed with my Converses and tying shirts around my waist. When did that become a thing? I guess I’m channeling my inner 90’s self *laughs* hence this grunge look.
I’ve also really been into graphic tees and sweaters. What about you guys? I got this one awhile back (maybe a year and a half ago), but it’s my go-to for those days when I just want to be cozy. This look is great for running errands because it allows flexibility and you still look very put together and stylish. It’s a win-win!
I know I’ve said this before, but my favorite thing about personal style is that it changes based on YOU and YOUR mood. I love being able to dress up one day and then be extra casual the following day. It defines who I am-someone who wears numerous hats and well, moods. And I feel just as great in every look, which is the most important thing. It all starts with loving yourself and being comfortable in your own skin. You’ll never feel 100% confident in any look until you tackle those two things. Trust me, I know.
Garry and I spent the day in Queens visiting some of our favorite places. Clearly, one involved a restaurant. Who doesn’t love good food? We love trying out new restaurants! I have a whole list of recommendations (aside from my Yelp list) that I keep on my phone just in case we can’t make a decision. It also works great for date nights. Apparently, I take my food very seriously *haha*
If you’re ever in Astoria you need to check out Arepas Cafe. It’s a Venezuelan restaurant and their stuffed arepas are to die for-I’m not joking. My favorite is the Arepa Pabellon. It’s shredded beef, black beans, fried sweet plantains topped with grated white cheese all stuffed inside an arepa.Pair it with their Passion Fruit Sangria and it’s heaven! Is your mouth watering yet? Well mine is. You can check it out on my Instagram. Clearly I can talk about food just as much as I can talk about fashion and beauty.
We ended our night watching the sunset at Astoria park! There’s something about staring at New York City that just inspires you. It’s one of my favorite places to go to when Im in a creative rut. Or even just to clear my head. There’s something about the city that never sleeps that just evokes creativity and determination.
Ah, like Frank Sinatra sang “if I can make it there-I’ll make it anywhere”…
On that note-have a great weekend sunshines!
xo
