California Lovin’ Part 2: Peplum Stripes & Royal Blue

Santa Monica is definitely one of my favorite places. It makes California feel like what you imagined it to be after watching Baywatch or 90210 (oh the memories). There are tons of people, street perfumers, and rides (after all, it is a tourist attraction). The atmosphere is so lively!

I love styling black and white stripes with solid colors. I feel like it makes such a bold statement, which is exactly what I did on our day trip to Santa Monica.       SONY DSC         I’m usually not a fan of peplum tops because I am curvy, but I did feel that this top complimented my body type. It’s all about finding the right look and feeling comfortable! SONY DSC H&M ShortsThe shorts are one of my favorites because they are more on the business casual side, but are very versatile. They were a great find at H&M (about a year or so ago) and the color makes such a difference when styling an outfit. I knew we would be walking along the pier and on sand so I wanted to make sure I was comfortable. I decided to pair it with these sandals from Target. They definitely add a more stylish look than your average flip flops. This outfit can easily transition into a night look just by changing into a pair of platform pumps. CloseUpShortsandSandals SONY DSCTargetSandals SantaMonicaBeachSONY DSC               My Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses made me feel so chic the entire time in Cali. The shape added the “hollywood glam” which was just the right touch. I also added a statement necklace to tie in my look. It’s more on the simple side of statement necklaces, but it balanced out.

I loved the faux leather trim around the collar of the peplum top. It added texture against the stripes. I wanted to compliment it by pairing it with the faux snakeskin leather tote, which brought the whole look together, don’t you think?SONY DSC SONY DSCSONY DSCCalifornia’s sunset are gorgeous. It was amazing to watch the sunset against the water with all of the palm trees and mountains in the background.

If you’re ever in town make sure you check out Cha Cha Chicken! They have delicious (I mean it!) jerk chicken enchiladas, toastadas and coconut fried chicken. SONY DSCHope everyone enjoyed their weekend! HMRoyalBlueShorts
