Textbooks, Laptops, Clothes, XL Twin Bedding-the list goes on. Back to school is in full effect and if you’re heading for your first year of college then get ready for “the best years of your life”!
I often reminisce (maybe too much) of my college days because of the lasting impact that the people and experiences have had on me, but it’s something that I wouldn’t trade for the world. Well, minus good ol’ Sallie Mae.
It’s hard to forget the feeling I had the night before my first day at C.W. Post. It was like all of the other “first day of school” jitters were preparing me for this one. Planning my outfit was always my favorite part because it allowed me to express my personal style.
I put together my “first day of college” look if I were to do it all over again. I think this is a great transition outfit for spring and its a bit edgy, which is perfect when you’re trying to make a bold statement. The thing that I appreciate about this look is how easy it is to put together because you can use any solid color as the base. The color foundation is black, but the touch of olive green, accented zippers, and gold accessories is really what makes the look. Oh, and let’s not forget the sunnies! 1st Day of College Tips
1. Wear comfortable (broken in) shoes: Opt for your favorite booties or sandals instead of heels or flip flops since you never know how much or how far you’ll be walking. Walking around with blisters is not fun!
2. Carry a large handbag/tote: Make sure your bag is large enough to carry your notebooks, technology, and writing utensils. It’s important to be prepared on your first day because you don’t want to be that girl. There are plenty of options available without having to sacrifice personal style.
3. Bring your sunnies: Hopefully, the weather is beautiful on your first day so make sure you grab your favorite pair because who likes to walk around squinting while taking it all in? Bonus Tip: Scope out your classrooms prior to so you’re familiar and not late on your first day.
4. Bring bottled water: It’s important to stay hydrated, especially when you’re in class for longer than you may be used to. Not only will it keep you hydrated, but it will keep your skin feeling fresh, plump, and give it a natural glow!
5. Have fun! While it’s extremely important to stay focused you also want to make sure you’re having fun. Like they say, these are suppose to be the best years of your life so make sure you make it that way! Just learn to balance both!
Have a great first day!
