A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending an Arm & Hammer event at Rogue Salon. I was so intrigued by the invite because they said that we would be getting facials using baking soda. Yes. Baking Soda. I didn’t really know what to expect and to be honest I wasn’t expecting to see much of a difference in my skin.
Boy, was I wrong.
After I rinsed, my skin was literally glowing and it looked so clean and BRIGHT. Seriously. The baking soda’s gritty texture really helps with removing any dead skin that’s sitting on your skin. Plus, it has mild anti-inflammatory properties which can ease with any inflamed areas and open up your pores allowing it to really clean deeply and get any unwanted gunk out.
I was so shocked that I wanted to share it with all of you! So that’s exactly what I’m doing today. I’ll show you how to get this super affordable exfoliator scrub which you can make in a matter of seconds. And you may not even have to spend a dime! What You’ll Need:
- Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
- Water (I used Poland Spring, but tap water is fine)
- Mixing Bowl
- Spoon
Measurement: 3 parts Baking Soda to 1 Part Water Step 1: Take the mixing bowl and slowly start pouring some baking soda into the bowl. Then add a few drops of water and start mixing. It should turn into a thick paste and you should have enough to cover your entire face. If you’re short just keep adding baking soda and a little bit of water. This is basically mistake-proof so don’t worry!
For a more intense scrub add a tablespoon of lemon juice and a few drops of organic olive oil. The lemon juice will help brighten skin (even more) over time and also lighten dark spots. The olive oil helps with keeping your skin plump and hydrated.
Step 2: Take the paste with your fingers and start gently massing into your skin. Make sure you’re going in circular motions so that it exfoliates and gets deep into your pores. But, be sure not to scrub too hard. You don’t want to irritate your skin. Step 3: Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.
Step 4: Lightly tap on moisturizer to your entire face. This will restore hydration back into your skin and enhance your new natural glow! And that’s it! Quick and easy, right?
I’ve tried it twice since I got it done and I love it. I’m going to start incorporating it into my Sunday night beauty routine. I’m hoping that it will help with some of the acne scars I have along my jawline so I’ll keep you posted!
Happy Good Friday and I hope that you have a very Happy Easter!
