Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited!
It’s one of my favorite days of the year because it’s meant to celebrate love-whether you’re in a relationship or not. And I think the world could always use a little bit more-don’t you?
Today, I’m going to show you how to get the perfect lip for Valentine’s Day using one of my favorite lip balms from Vaseline! You know how they say great makeup starts with great skincare? Well, that applies for your lips as well! Especially during the winter. So, let’s great ready to hydrate these babies and get the perfect lip for V-day!
Step 1-Exfoliate your lips: This helps with getting rid of any dead skin that accumulates on your lips. But, remember to be gentle! If you scrub too hard it can cause your lips to bleed.I usually do this right before a special night out *cough cough* because I want my lipstick to go on as smoothly as possible-especially if it’s a matte or liquid lipstick.
Step 2-Hydrate Your Lips: This is the MOST important part because nobody likes when their lips start to crack. Ya, feel me? I use the Vaseline Lip Therapy tins under every lip application because it keeps them so hydrated and even a little plump. I prefer the Rosy one because of the pink tint that it leaves on my lips so it’s perfect for wearing alone as well. Trust me, you NEED to try it! Plus, they’re available at Target so they’re very accessible while you’re doing your weekly Target run.
Tip: If I’m wearing a liquid lipstick then I usually glob this on while I’m doing the rest of my makeup. Then I’ll blot off the excess before applying the lipstick.
Step 3-Apply Lipstick: For Valentine’s Day, I prefer a glossy lip. I feel like it looks a bit more romantic and pretty. Buuttt, it also depends on my mood and where we’re going that day. Sometimes we stay in so I go for a simple look with lip balm like the Rosy one.
These are my holy grail lip colors for Valentine’s Day because of the variety. They’re soft and subtle or bold. Plus, I love the array of finishes because it makes a difference depending on the look that you’re going for.
