If you’re anything like me then you weren’t aware that there was such thing as *drum roll* girlfriend jean. Yes, it is a thing and it’s not to be confused with your favorite pair of boyfriends *wink*.
While perusing through H&M I stumbled upon these ripped denim pants. I was instantly drawn to them because of the rips (it’s kind of my thing right now) and the dark blue denim patch. Well, if that wasn’t enough to drop everything and pay for them then the tag labeled “Girlfriend” on the back definitely was. I immediately chuckled and said to my girlfriend (no pun intended) “really, this is a thing?”. And with that being said-I bought them.
Girlfriend jeans sit a bit higher on your waist (yet not high-waisted) and hug your legs more than your average boyfriend jeans. Hmm..I’m wondering if they’re trying to tell us something. Oh, and they’re also cropped which I love. Who doesn’t like to show a little ankle when the weather is warm? I know I do!
Now, to the fun part-styling them!
Since they are slightly fitted it gives you a lot more options in terms of what tops to pair it with. I decided on this loose striped shirt. It keeps the look very casual while balancing out the jeans. Remember, it’s all about proportions. To spice up the look I added my favorite moto jacket (I know, Im obsessed). The jacket is more structured so it keeps the look very neat and edgy which is always a plus.
Want to appear taller and a bit thinner? Add some heels! The jeans are cropped so it allows you to show off your ankle and the heels help with the appearance of elongating your legs. This look is great for grabbing drinks with friends, casual Friday’s at work, or just about anything you can think of (well, maybe not anything). Want to keep it super casual? Then just add a pair of your favorite slip-on sneakers and you’re good to go! Either way you still look very put together and you are comfortable.
