Another day another juice cleanse, right?
Juicing, SoulCycle, and kale have taken over our lives (or so it seems) and the healthy lifestyle kick doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. As I’m getting older I’m realizing just how important it is to take care of our bodies and health. In September, I lost my grandmother to Alzheimers and Dementia (may she rest peacefully) and it made me want to try my best to preserve my body now as much as I can. Just like anything else a healthy lifestyle requires hard work and a lot of preparation. With that being said, I’ve been looking into some options to help me change my lifestyle and jumpstart some better eating decisions.
Jus by Julie was kind enough to send me their sample pack to see if this would be the right fit for me. And guess what I decided to do? Review it for you! *yay* I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the taste, their cleanse options, and some of my weight struggles. Now, let’s get into it!
*Disclaimer: I’m not a nutritionist nor am I educated in health and fitness. The thoughts provided are my own opinions and you should always consult with your doctor before trying anything regarding your health*
There were five bottles shipped (for some reason I didn’t get #1). How the heck did they ship you all natural juices without them going bad?! I thought the same thing, but they actually pack them in a little cooler (so cute!) so they stay fresh until they arrive at your front door. The juices are blended (not pressed) which means that they use the entire fruit/vegetable so it’s keeping all of the nutrients and fibers. Hence, allowing you to stay nourished and full all day! Bonus side? They’re actually made in Brooklyn and I love being able to support local shops! Now let’s get onto the tasting!
- #2 Spicy Pomegranate: This reminded me of the “lemonade” juice cleanse that I tried (and did not succeed at by the way). It has a hint of spiciness (obviously), but it’s quite smooth. This was one of my favorite ones because the taste is surprisingly refreshing and I’m able to drink it quickly.
- #3 Sweet Spin: Yummy goodness! This was another one that I enjoyed (it seemed too good to be true at this point *haha*). It tastes like your average “green drink” which I’ve come to really like. It’s a bit thicker in consistency and if you like bananas then I’m sure you’ll love it too!
- #4 Chia Berry: If you’re a fan of tart flavored drinks then you’ll love this one. I didn’t mind it, but I also didn’t love it like the first two juices. Also, it has a more texturized feel because of the seeds from the strawberry and chia.
- #5 Island Coconut: I’m a coconut lover so this was right up my alley. It’s definitely more frothier than the other drinks and the coconut taste is very prominent. I feel like it’s more of a “treat” drink since it’s a bit on the sweeter side.
- #6 X-treme Greens: This was my least favorite drink. It’s very texturized, which made it more difficult to drink. This is not like the green drinks at Jamba Juice, but with that being said it is full of good stuff for ya. And that’s the point, right?
The thing that I love about this juices is that you have some options, which is perfect because we all live different lifestyles. What works for me may not necessarily work for you. The 1-day cleanse is meant to just jumpstart your new healthy lifestyle while the 3-day and 5-day offer more cleansing-like results (which may appear in weight loss). Personally, I feel as if the 3-day cleanse is a good way to start because I don’t think I could drink juice for five days straight. That’s way too long for me to go without eating food!
A healthier lifestyle is something we should all want. And trust me, I know how hard that can be. I’m someone that deals with weight gain very easily which has a lot to do with stress. In the past two months I’ve gained about 10-13 lbs. Now, that’s a lot in a short amount of time! I always get into these funks where I start to hate how my clothes fit and how I feel, but this time I’m determined to really make a change. Something that is a bit more permanent. It’s going to be a long journey, but I’m trying to find things that really work for me so wish me luck!
