Finding a great drugstore foundation can seem like finding a needle in a haystack so when L’Oreal revealed their Pro-Glow foundation it was a must-have on my list.
I went to three different Walmart’s because it seemed like they were the first exclusive retailer but I came to find out that it was only online. I personally prefer being able to see the product in person so I decided to wait it out and soon enough they started to trickle in. I spotted them at Rite Aid one night and I was so excited that it was buy one, get one 50% off so I grabbed two shades; 204 and 205.
For an in-depth review you can watch my video which includes a demo as well or watch it at the end of this post.
BTS tidbit: I had to remove my makeup (minus my eyes) after filming because I forgot to take the photos for the blog so my skin is a bit more irritated than normal (and red). For starters, my face had no product on it except for moisturizer. I used the Korres moisturizing and brightening cream because it’s very hydrating and makes my skin feel plump which goes perfectly with this foundation. I feel like using a very hydrating moisturizer helps the foundation appear even more radiant and skin-like.
What the foundation claims:
- Radiant finish
- 24 hour wear
- Medium Coverage
- Air-light texture
- SPF 15
The claims are pretty accurate, which was very mind-blowing. For under $13 you’re getting a foundation that provides build-able coverage with a nice radiant finish. It doesn’t look cakey and it certainly didn’t settle into my smile lines which I really appreciate. Hey, I like to laugh a lot. The only claim that didn’t get tested was the 24 hour wear. I don’t recommend trying to wear your makeup for that long-our skin needs a break! I did find that by the 10 or 12th hour of wearing that I needed to retouch on my chin and upper lip since this is where I tend to sweat the most.
They have 12 different shades so it’s not a huge selection, but covers a good amount from Ivory all the way to Cocoa. For the price point you can buy two shades and mix them to create your perfect match if they happen to be slightly off. The undertones are more yellow/olive based which I personally love because they compliment my skin tone.
The consistency of the formula is very runny which allows it to feel very light-weight which is a huge plus. The upside is that it’s not too sheer so it provides good coverage with one layer. But, you know I like that full coverage foundation so two layers work well for me.
Primers: I always wear a primer with my foundation because I truly feel that they help my makeup stay on smoother and last longer which is a must for me. These primers are my tried and true when I wear foundation.
- Makeup Forever Hydrating Primer: This primer is great for dry skin and gives that extra plumping feel that I love especially when using radiant products. I feel that they work best together and give a more natural glow look.
- Makeup Forever Smoothing Primer: If you have oily/combination skin then this primer is your life saver. If smooths out your pores and controls the oil. I still love this primer for the high points of my cheeks and nose since my pores are more visible there.
- L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer: If you want some extra glow then this baby will do it! When I wear the Pro-Glow foundation and want some extra, extra glow then I opt for this primer. It makes the foundation look even more radiant which is perfect for the days that I just want a very healthy and fresh face look.
Tools: Normally, I prefer my beauty blender every time I put my foundation on. For this particular foundation I like to use the Sigma F80 with the first layer. It packs the foundation into the skin very evenly and allows for more coverage which is something I look for because I have some hyper-pigmentation that I want to cover up. Afterwards, I’ll apply the second layer with a damp Beauty Blender to give a more air-brushed appearance. The damp sponge soaks up any excess which keeps it from looking cakey.
The photo above is just with one layer using the F80. Usually, I’ll color correct to help cover up the dark circles under my eyes and the hyper-pigmentation but for this review & demo I didn’t. I wanted to show case the actual product and how it works.
This is the final look! I’m absolutely in LOVE with the L’Oreal Pro-Glow foundation. But I’m sure that if you follow me on Twitter then you already knew that *wink*.
