Menswear Inspired

Who says you can’t wear men’s clothing?

I usually don’t shop in the men’s department unless I really fall in love with a specific tee (why do they always have better graphic tees?!), but this time I got lucky. Garry was doing laundry and somehow managed to shrink some of his favorite sweaters. While it was a win for me…I’m not so sure how happy he was about shooting this menswear inspired look *insert teeth chattering emoji*

Cowl neck sweaters (in my opinion) can be very hit or miss for men. They give off a grandfather-ish feel, but if it’s worn right it can be very stylish. After all, it is the way you wear something-not what you wear.

I unintentionally opted for a Christmas color scheme. Ah, only if this would have happened a few weeks ago then it would have been perfect timing. Well, better late than never right?

I kept the pieces very structured to make it more of a minimalistic feel and to also give that menswear vibe. I thought back to when I see my father getting ready to leave for a special event. He just throws on his long black dust coat and it immediately just pulls the look together. It’s give a polished look and that’s exactly what I was going for here. Winter coats should definitely compliment your look and of course, keep you warm.

To compliment the look, I went for a more neutral eye using the new Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette. The fact that it smells like chocolate makes me love it 10 times more! It has a great range of matte and beautiful shimmer shades. It’s definitely worth trying it out! And if you don’t want to take my word for it just head to Sephora for the tester. That’s my favorite thing about makeup shopping because you can swatch everything in store before you make the commitment (and even ask for samples).

Oversized accessories just scream menswear, but I didn’t want to over do it. I paired my oversized Michael Kors watch with these beautiful bracelets from Bauble Bar. I just die for these! I loved them so much I had to get two! Plus, I love how they add a dainty touch so that everything is balanced out.

This weather has been ridiculous on the east coast. We woke up to surprise snow on Friday so you can just imagine how frigid the temperature has been. I think we were at -8 at one point. And it’s raining today. Mother Nature doesn’t seem to be too happy with us. California anyone?
