New York Fashion Week, better known as NYFW, is always such a thrilling time of the year. But, don’t get it twisted-it’s not as glamorous as it looks. There are a lot of the behind the scenes that we don’t get to see.
Thanks to Red Door Spa I got to cover backstage at Vivienne Tam and let me tell you-it was very busy. Backstage was full of hundreds of people running floating around, modelings getting hair & makeup done, and assistants trying to tie up loose ends. There was even a moment when they needed an extra bag. So what did they do? Pull one and start sewing patches on. It was so thrilling being able to watch everyone in their own element prepare for a show that only lasts 15 minutes. Kudos to all the people that work behind the scenes! Sometimes it’s hard to give them credit because we don’t necessarily know, but it takes a village and month’s of preparation for one of these shows to come to life.
But can we talk about the clothes?! I was obsessed with this blue and red floral blazer. I think the most intriguing part was that it was all mesh with beautiful embroidered roses. It was definitely one of my favorite pieces from Vivienne Tam. It was like she made it just for me. #Wishfulthinking
I’ve recently gotten into the whole sneaker/loafer situation so it was cool to see it hit the runway for Spring and Summer of 2017. I love how Vivienne Tam added the sheer socks for a unique look. I’m definitely thinking about trying this out. The other pieces of the collection were filled with bright bold orange hues which I was also loving. I think it’s good to have statement pieces in your wardrobe and that orange printed dress is one of them!
And I can’t get mad at the fact that metallics are carrying over. It’s one of my favorite trends so far. I’m not sure why-all I know is that it makes my heart skip a beat!
Thanks to Red Door Spa and Vivienne Tam for having me!
