This past week has just been full of all types of emotions, which I’m blaming on the weather *haha*. Can ya get it together already Spring?!
One day it’s no-jacket type of warm and the next we’re preparing for snow and getting blown away. No type of respect out here for my outfit planning. But nonetheless I’m trying to pull through and show you how to create my favorite look; edgy chic.
I found this vintage leather wrap dress in my aunt Patricia’s closet one day and I stole it. Sssh. She used to work at a clothing store years ago so she has all these amazing pieces. Why not put them to good use for the blog, right? The problem? She’s like a size 4 so a lot of those things barely fit. But I made sure to squeeze into this one.
FYI-it makes it very hard for me to believe that there are people out there who don’t believe in global warming. But hey, what do I know. My favorite thing about an edgy chic outfit is how diverse it is. It can be worn to an event and you still look dressed up or to dinner with your friends and it’s still laid back enough. The possibilities are endless. And that my friends is always a good thing. Today, I’ll break down the 3 items that are key for creating the perfect edgy chic outfit!
- Faux Leather: Faux leather immediately comes to mind whenever I think of an edgy look so this vintage leather wrap dress was perfect. It gives a “tough” look which I’m obsessed with for everyday wear. It’s probably why I’m always wearing my moto jacket. This is a dress, but since it runs a bit small on me I decided to wear it as a blazer/overcoat. To soften up the look a bit I added this lace bra. I LOVE how it peaks out because it adds some sexiness to the overall look.
- Distressed Denim: Ripped denim is so big these days. I hardly think that people wear jeans without holes in them anymore *haha*. I’m actually a huge fan of them because they add a more personalized look and create edgy vibes. I opted for boyfriend jeans because they’re a bit more loose fitting and give more of a tomboy-ish feel. It’s so fun being able to mix different types of looks together to create one amazing outfit!
- Statement Jewelry: Lately, I’ve been a fan of the simple/minimalistic side but there’s no denying good statement pieces. Accessories definitely complete an outfit or bring it to life so I went for a bunch of statement rings. I picked ones that weren’t too big and chunky so they didn’t over power one another. I love how some are just silver and some have black stones mixed in with gunmetal, but I also stayed true to my minimalistic feels by adding this simple bar necklace. I added this neutral camel clutch to the look for a subtle contrast.
This is actually the second time we shot this look. I didn’t love the way it turned out the first time because I was wearing a black chocker and black heels. I think adding in subtle hints of neutrals really made a difference in the overall look and I absolutely love it now. Don’t be discouraged if something doesn’t look right-just keep trying different pieces and sure enough it will come together!
After all-style is all about having FUN!
