As I’ve gotten older brunching has been quite the thing to do on the weekends. I mean-who doesn’t like french toast and mimosas?
The thing I love about brunches is that you get together with a group of your friends and just enjoy good food, drinks, and more importantly-good company. These are the memories that are worth hanging on to. A few weeks ago, we went to a birthday brunch for my friend Jess in the city. Garry and I didn’t know most of the people there but by the time we left we were all laughing and cracking jokes. Ahh, the power of brunching *haha*.
As per usual, Garry snapped some quick OOTD shots for the gram. I got so many questions and comments about my outfit that we decided to shoot it for the blog. Hey, if it’s good enough for the gram then it should be good enough for the blog. So today I’m sharing my perfect brunch outfit for spring PLUS some of my favorite places to actually brunch at! The reason that this outfit is so perfect for a brunch in spring is because of the color palette and the use of transitional pieces. If you live on the east coast then you know the weather hasn’t been our best friend and can very well be holding spring hostage. I mean, how else do you explain snow in April? The duster coat and jeans add enough coverage for warmth. Plus if it gets too warm then you can remove the duster coat and still look chic.
I’m a huge lover of pastels in spring. They’re just so light and usually work as a great neutral. This blush duster coat has been my FAVORITE find from Forever 21. It’s one of those hidden gems that when you discover the holy lights appear and music begins to play. I’ve had it for about a year and it’s still in amazing condition. Definitely #holygrail status. I paired it with this dress (yes, it’s a dress) from MissGuided because it’s a sleeveless turtleneck. Need I say anymore? And of course-ripped boyfriend jeans. They make the look casual yet edgy. It’s always fun to mix in colors within the same color scheme for a somewhat monochromatic look. I added my pink Kate Spade bag and blush caged heels from Vince Camuto. These are actually so comfortable and I love how they add a bit of glam. Oh, and don’t forget your favorite shades for when the drinks start to get a bit too heavy *wink*
I’m no brunchin’ expert but these places have not disappointed. They have great food AND ambiance which I’m very big on.
- Sanford’s (food is so SO delicious! and the drinks hit the spot!)
- Queen’s Comfort (it’s BYOB which is pretty cool. The tater tots are AMAZING!)
- Sotto 13 (celebrated my 26th birthday here and it’s been a favorite ever since!! The frittata’s were a huge hit!)
- PS 450 (this is definitely a must-visit. It has lounge-ish vibes so you can dance the afternoon away and the food is mouth-watering. I got the smores french toast-OMG! I celebrated my 27th birthday here and it was perfect!)
Have you been to any of these? Let me know some of your favorite places to brunch at down below. I’m still looking for some spots for my birthday coming up next week. Ahhh. I’m getting old!
