There’s nothing better than taking time to pamper yourself. Yes. YOURSELF!
Time and time again I come to the realization that I am most successful and positive when I look and feel good about myself. Kind of a no-brainer, right? And while it takes time and effort (trust me-it’s a lot easier staying in PJ’s) it helps our overall mood. Pampering can come in a variety of forms-manicures, hair cuts, taking a yoga class, buying new cookware-the list goes on. At the end of the day it’s all about how YOU like to pamper yourself. And if you’re anything like me and you enjoy trying new things then you’ll be sure to love today’s topic; facials!
The Red Door Spa in Woodbury has my heart! They’re the sweetest people (seriously!) and it doesn’t hurt that there is a Starbucks located in the same shopping center. Did I tell you I was a Sbux junkie? *blushes* Any who…I’ve never gotten a facial before! I know, a little crazy since I rave about skincare *clenching teeth emoji* but I’m so glad that I finally did it! Let me just start by saying that I absolutely l-o-v-e-d the Arden Facial! It was the most soothing, relaxing, and therapeutic experience that I’ve had in a long time-wait…no, ever. That I’ve had EVER!
My aesthetician was Daniela (be sure to ask for her! She’s ah-mazing!) and she gave me quite the experience. She has such a warm personality so I felt instantly comfortable with her which is a huge deal for me. Daniela even gave me a skin test and told me that I was dry in my cheek area and oily in my T-zone, which is crazy to me because I always thought I had dry skin. Immediate life-changing moment *haha* After that, I had to ask her about my all-of-a-sudden problematic skin (aka acne) and the scarring it was leaving behind.
Skincare Tip from Daniela: Use a Vitamin C serum every night to reduce redness and scarring since it brightens and lightens any dark spots and pigmentation.
This facial is a bit more soothing and relaxing than your usual one because they don’t do any extractions. It’s all about cleansing, toning, and massaging your skin. Can it get any better than that?! They had me change into a comfortable robe and then I laid down on the table (that felt like a bed). This was probably one of my favorite things because the blankets were heated and it felt so cozy. I literally wanted to lay there all day. Hmm..I wonder if I can make one of those for my room. Daniela used all the products from the Visible Difference line and I loved them all! She also used the collagen booster which helps with fine lines and keeps your skin feeling plumper and tighter. I couldn’t say no to that!
Skincare Tip from Daniela #2: Facials are recommended every 4 weeks for problematic skin until your skin clears up. For normal skin then she recommends it every 6 weeks to help with aging, sun spots, and just maintaining the elasticity of your skin. In turn keeping your skin looking smoother and younger!
If you follow me on Snapchat (user:lovegreyskies) then you know I’ve been having some issues with “adult” acne. I made an appointment with the dermatologist this past Friday to see what’s going on with my skin. I never had severe acne (other than that time of the month) so it’s great to learn about skincare and how different techniques can help. And don’t worry I’ll keep you guys updated!
I hope you’re having an amazing Monday!
