It’s starting to (finally) feel like spring! And you know what that means…
Time to whip out the duster, boxes, and get ready to get dirrttyy (not what you had in mind, huh?)
For me, organization is key. I can’t seem to think let alone be productive in clutter. Now, closet organization? Well that’s a necessity. Who can find something they want to wear in a messy closet? Not me, so I wanted to share some of my tips for spring cleaning your closet. Which I happen to do 3-4 times a year *eek*
I’m a true believer that your bedroom should be treated like your sanctuary. It should be clean, neat, and decorated to your liking. In turn, it should allow you to relax, think freely, and most importantly-make you happy. Who wouldn’t like that?

Before you get started make sure that you have a good amount of time to dedicate to this project. It can be an all day thing or even a multiple day event (just think about the end result). It all depends on the amount of clothes and space that you have available.
Items Needed
1. Boxes
2. Sharpie
3. Hangers (make sure they are all the same color. Trust me, it will make a HUGE difference). Need to save as much space as possible? Try these-they are thin and the velvet creates a grip so your silk shirts won’t slide off.
4. Cleaning Supplies
Okay, let’s do this!

Step 1
Take 3 boxes and label each one as follows: Love, Like, and Donate (you can customize them to your preference-this is just how I do it). I added a “sell” box this recent spring cleaning because Im going to sell items I haven’t worn on Poshmark. Or I may sell them on here. I haven’t decided yet, but comment below and let me know what you think!
Step 2
Take everything out of your closet. I mean-e v e r y t h i n g! This is going to make you feel liberated and it will feel like a true fresh start. I bet you’ll feel better already! I also take this time to deep clean my closet by dusting and sweeping.
Step 3
This is the time consuming part. Take every piece of clothing (one by one) and try it on. Put some music on and have fun with it *snaps fingers* Hey, you can even grab some of your best girlfriends and have your own SATC moment.
Step 4
As your trying things on make sure that you are carefully analyzing each piece. Trust me, you’ll be shocked at the things you bought.
Here’s where the boxes come into play. Those jeans don’t fit anymore? Put them in the donate box. Still obsessed with that floral crop top? Put it in the love box. Not sure how you feel about those bell bottom jeans? Put them in the like box. Easy peasy, right?
Step 5
Almost done! Take whatever is in your “like” box and give it another go. Ask yourself “Am I really going to wear this?” or “Where would I wear this to?” Usually by then you can filter out what you want to keep and what you want to give away. Then, tape up your “donate” box.
Step 6
Sort through your freshly curated wardrobe and pair like-colored items together. Yes, I color code my wardrobe. This will make getting dressed so much easier in the morning-trust me. Now all that’s left is to put them on the new hangers and place them in your closet-voila!

Now, only if my closet could look like that *haha* Talk about a closet makeover! Getting dressed in the morning has never been so fun *wink*
Hope you enjoyed this step-by-step! Be sure to send me photos or use #lovegreyskies so I can check out your beautiful wardrobes!
