Are statement sleeves the new bell bottoms?
Personally, I’d like to think so. They add a bit of flair to just about any look so it makes putting together an outfit that much easier. I recently picked up this white chiffon top because of the trumpet sleeves. They spoke to me. It was a combination of modern chic with a touch of renaissance (a.k.a. the collar). At first, I was going to pair it with some denim skinnies but decided to play up the look.
The best part about style and fashion is that it’s completely up to you. Lately, my looks have been a bit more on the edgier side but today I wanted to switch it up. And that’s okay. This outfit is perfect for the office or running to a work meeting. I really wanted the focus to be on the sleeves so I made sure to pair it with a cape coat. It was perfect because the sleeves immediately draw your attention.
Instead of fitted trousers I opted for my wide-leg trousers but I wouldn’t do it again. I think that it created too much movement since the coat flairs out as well. You live and you learn. As a style expert I make mistakes too and it’s just a mater of having fun. Remember, personal style is all about expressing yourself.
Statement sleeves are taking over so be sure to at least try it out. I promise you that you will find one that you love!
