It’s official…I joined the lob club! *eeeekkk*
If you follow me on Instagram then you already knew this (or any other social media platform *haha), but last Tuesday I went for a haircut and decided to just do it! *insert Nike logo* I’ve been wanting to try out the whole LOB (aka long bob) trend for a while now, but if you read my hair envy post then you know why I was so hesitant.
This was something that I wanted to do back in January so when I talked to Briana (my hair stylist) about it she thought that it would be best to start slow. She’s VERY aware of how anxious I get with my hair. And looking back at it I couldn’t have agreed more. She started by taking 4″ inches off so I could get used to shorter hair-nothing too extreme-and we would get rid of all the dead ends. I mean, who could hate beautiful healthy hair?
My hair grew pretty fast which I was very impressed with, but I found myself craving the shorter hair. I saw so many people doing it and it looked great on so many face shapes that I figured, why not?! So, last month I text Briana and set up my appointment. Normally, I would change my mind last minute but I felt pretty good about it this time. I didn’t tell too many people either because I didn’t want people’s opinions to get into my head and I wanted to feel confident in my decision. I know..are we really talking about hair like it’s a life change decision? Yes, yes we are.
The most important thing I could suggest is to find a hair stylist who understands and listens to you. That’s why Briana is the only one I let touch my hair. And I put her through a lot. I showed her some of my inspiration photos (check them out on my pinterest) and I explained how I didn’t want my face looking fuller or rounder. In turn, she explained she would be leaving it longer in the front (a little lower than my collar bone) and slightly shorter in the back. She didn’t want to define the angle too much so it would look more effortless when I styled it, which is exactly what I wanted.
Needless to say..I LOVE it!
If you’re thinking of jumping aboard (and you’re like me) then I would definitely recommend taking baby steps. It gives you a chance to envision your face with the cut which I think makes a huge difference. What do you guys think?!
Oh, and how chic is this turtleneck dress from MissGuided? I’ve been obsessed with their site ever since I found my birthday outfit on there. I love how comfortable it is and it’s also thin so it will be great for those hot summer days. For this look, I wanted it a bit on the edgier side so I paired it with this bomber jacket from the David Beckham for H&M collection. It’s obviously for men, but I just couldn’t help myself. It was too cute not to find it in a smaller size. Do you guys find any goodies in the men’s section?
I hope you’re having an amazing day!
