Is it just me or does the cold harsh weather just bring out the lazy in you?!
Lately, it seems as if my warm cozy blankets are trying to call the shots around here and I’m not sure if I mind that much. Just kidding–or am I? Even on the days that I feel like not getting dressed-ya know, the days where it just seems unbearable and a pair of sweat pants and slippers will do the trick? Yea, those days are the best days to put a little effort into your look.
If you’ve been following my blog for a bit then you know that I’m a firm believer in “when you look good, you feel good”. Personally, when I’m in a slump and I make no effort into my appearance or changing my mentality well then that slump lasts a bit longer than I would like it to. It’s always the first day back of picking out an outfit and putting some makeup on that I feel like I’m ready to conquer the world. And all those things I was fussing about don’t really mean much. The mind is a hell of thing.
So I figured that while it’s okay to still have those “lazy” days it’s just as important to put some effort into them. Today, I’m sharing my 3 tips for still looking and feeling put together while keeping it comfy.
- Leggings: I actually just cringed while I typed that. I have a love/hate relationship with leggings. This is the first time in 4 years that I’ve bought leggings because I had a tendency to gain weight when I wore leggings. It may be a deeper issue than the leggings haha. But, I do suggest investing in a pair of THICK leggings (no one wants to see your underwear-trust me) for those lazy days. They’re black so they will keep you looking slim and stretchy so they’re comfortable. Plus, they go with almost everything. Just throw them on and you’re good to go!
- Oversized Sweaters: This may be a no-brianer, but the last thing I want to wear with a pair of leggings is a crop top or a tight blouse. Go for an oversized sweater to give a more casual yet stylish look. Plus, it goes great with my next tip *wink*
- Hats: The thing I hate most about putting effort into my “lazy” day look is my hair. I wish that I could just wake up and have a hair stylist on call. Hey, a girl can dream. I recently fell in love with baseball hats. I’m not really sure where it stemmed from, but it’s a growing obsession for two reasons; 1. They look cute & stylish and 2. They work wonders when your hair is dirty. There’s no thought into your hair and I LOVE that. I still spray some dry shampoo just in case, but other than that I throw the hat on and I’m out the door. I actually picked this one up from the men’s section in Target.
On the colder days, I just switch out my moto jacket for my parka and add a cozy scarf and gloves. Remember, you don’t need a bunch of new pieces to create looks. Just focus on getting some key pieces and then mix and match!
